I'm a beginner. Can I do hot yoga?

Absolutely, hot yoga is suitable for everyone! Each class is multi-level and everyone works with the variations best for them and their practice at the time. You don’t need to be flexible, flexibility is something you gain throughout your growth and practice with yoga. Whether you can touch your toes or not, yoga is about finding balance.

How will I benefit from hot yoga?

Hot Yoga practice is stimulating and cleansing. Some benefits include:

➺ reduced stress
➺ increased blood circulation which stimulates your heart and strengthens it’s contractions
➺ lower blood pressure
➺ improved flexibility & strength
➺ making you feel more energized, rejuvenated, and cleansed
➺ increased metabolism
➺ stimulation of your fat receptors: activating fat stores, facilitating fat loss and releasing fat-soluble toxins
➺ stimulation of white blood cell production which boosts the immune system
➺ promoted relaxation
➺ more rapid healing of injuries and disease symptoms

How often should I practice?

Daily practice rejuvenates your mind, body, and spirit. You should start to feel stronger and also calmer after just a few classes as you start to better tune in to your breath and focus during your practice. For the most results we always recommend at least 3 – 4 sessions a week.

What should I bring to class?

➺ Bring water or a refillable bottle, a yoga mat & towel, and blocks (especially if attending a Yin class). We have bottles of water available for purchase in the studio if you forget yours. Make sure you’re hydrated before hand and aim to drink about 16 oz. two hours prior to class. Try not to eat anything 2 – 3 hours before your class, and if you must, eat some fruit!
➺ Wear fitted clothes! Women tend to wear yoga pants or shorts with a fitted shirt or tank and sports bra. Men tend to wear a shirt and a pair of shorts.

How do I sign up for class?

You can sign into classes using the MindBody app, our online scheduler here! We do not require pre-registration, but spaces are currently limited to 20 practitioners, so we recommend reserving your spot in advance.

For new students, we have an introductory offer that is 2 weeks of unlimited yoga for $59. You can purchase this online here, or when visiting the studio for the first time! We do not require payment to reserve your spot in class. Just let the front desk know you’d like to purchase the intro package to begin your journey. We always welcome drop-in visits for $25.

What is your COVID-19 protocol?

We have always been committed to cleanliness — especially now more than ever. Since reopening, we have amplified our standard cleaning practices and procedures to ensure that Hot House remains a safe space for your yoga practice. We work to sanitize the studio between all of our classes by mopping floors after every single class and consistently wiping down touchable surfaces including countertops, handles, toilets, light switches & more using an EPA approved COVID-19 disinfectant. Constant air exchange and germicidal UV light filtration provided by our unique heating system ensure the finest air quality possible.

In addition to our expanded cleaning practices, we have also implemented several new policies and procedures to reduce the risk of the spread of illness through our studio. Face coverings are required in the studio at all times when not on your yoga mat, and we have suspended the use of all shared items in the studio including blocks, mats, and towel rentals. In order to maintain the safest environment possible our class sizes have been limited to a maximum of 20 practitioners in order to accommodate a minimum of 6ft of separation between mats. Pre-registration for classes is strongly recommended. We have also taken steps to limit the number of people in the studio and common areas in between classes by lengthening the transition time between classes, and asking our students to arrive no sooner than 20 minutes before the start of class and exit within 15 minutes of “namaste.”

Please help us by wearing a mask, adhering to our policies, washing your hands frequently, and using the hand sanitizer located throughout the studio. If you or anyone that you have recently come into contact with are exhibiting symptoms such as cough, runny nose, fever, fatigue, muscle aches, shortness of breath, or new loss of taste/smell, please stay home so that we can continue to keep Hot House Yoga RVA a safe environment!
